Mercy Chinwo is a Nigerian gospel musician, singer and songwriter. Mercy is a renowned songstress and a powerful vocalist in the Nigerian gospel music industry. She was the winner of the Nigerian Idol Season 2 in 2012 and is currently signed to Eezee Conceptz record label.

Mercy Nnenda Chinwo was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on September 5 1990. She is the fourth child in a family of five but the first daughter. Mercy Chinwo got involved in music at a very early age, being a member of the children’s choir in her church and transitioning to the adult choir before launching her musical career.

Mercy Chinwo is currently managed by Mr Ezekiel ”Eezee Tee” ThankGod, who also manages Frank Edwards. Mercy has won several notable awards including Best Gospel Artiste at the CLIMAX Awards 2018. In 2019, at the maiden edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST 2019) Mercy Chinwo was named the winner in three categories namely Africa Gospel New Artist of the Year, Africa Gospel Female Artist of the Year and Africa Gospel Song of the Year for Excess Love. Notably, the categories she won contained the likes of Sinach, Prospa Ochimana and Tim Godfrey.

MM1, as she’s fondly called, started her musical career by lending her vocals to musical projects by gospel music artistes such as Sammie Okposo, Joe Praize, Buchi, Chris Morgan, and Preye. She dropped her first single titled Testimony in 2015, a year later she dropped her second single titled Igwe. In 2017, she signed to Gospel Music Label EeZee Conceptz. Her breakthrough came in 2018 with the song Excess Love which gained so much popularity and confirmed her musical ability.
